Privacy Policy

Backed By Stats is a free, informational NFL and NBA statistics site. We collect as little as possible, we never sell your information, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

What we collect

You can use the whole site without an account and without giving us any personal information.

Newsletter. If you sign up, we collect your first name, your last name (optional), your email address, and the fact and time that you agreed to receive emails. We use this only to send you our newsletter and a one-time welcome email.

Contact form. If you message us, we collect your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message, and use them only to read and reply to you.

Who processes it for us

We use a small number of trusted service providers, only to run the features above:

• Kit (kit.com) stores our newsletter list and sends our newsletters.
• Resend (resend.com) delivers our welcome email and contact-form messages to our inbox.
• Cloudflare hosts the site, protects it from attacks, and runs Turnstile, a bot check on our forms that processes technical information such as your IP address and browser details to confirm you're a person.
• Our business email provider stores messages we send and receive.

We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Your choices and rights

Every newsletter and welcome email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time by writing to info@backedbystats.com; we'll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights, and we honor them.

How long we keep it

Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to respond and follow up.

Analytics

We may use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (such as Cloudflare Web Analytics) that report aggregate traffic (page views, country, device type) without tracking individuals or setting advertising cookies.

Cookies & local storage

We don't use advertising cookies. The site stores a few small preferences in your own browser, for example a chosen filter, or a note that you've already seen or answered our newsletter prompt so we don't show it again. These stay on your device.

Security

All connections use encryption (HTTPS). Form submissions are checked for bots and validated on our servers, and the keys to our email services are stored only on those servers, never in your browser.

Children

This site is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Third-party data

Statistics are derived from public sources (including nflverse) and weather forecasts from Open-Meteo. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the NFL, the NBA, any team, or any sportsbook.
